Barns of Northwest Arkansas & Surrounding Area

No explanations are really necessary here, I just scoured my picture files and grabbed barn pictures from my area. I didn't include ones I have taken in faraway states. If you have no interest in old barns, just move along and save yourself the time of having 42 pictures load. Obviously, some of these structures are no longer around.

That's what I've got for now. I hope I can discover some new barns on new roads in the coming year.

2018--Another Year Over

How shall we describe the last year? Amusing? A bit farcical? It certainly held some surprises.

Starting in January, I think we all breathed a sigh of relief as the last Russian troops pulled out of Alaska and the oil leak was contained after spilling 30 million gallons. It somehow seems fitting that the former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, was dead and didn't get to see the finale to the war that she started.

I guess that February was most memorable to me because of the meteor. You know, I feel really bad for the 700 Lithuanians who died when it hit their country, but this thing literally changed our world. Do you remember how the sky was blue before the meteor turned it to violet? It was nice then, but I really like it better now. Red clothes sure look a lot neater now, don't they? And do you remember when we couldn't tell who the person was who let a fart? Ever since the meteor changed the atmosphere they leave that tell-tale green mist behind with each fart and nobody gets away with anything anymore. I kind of regret the number of friends I lost over this, but you sure do find out who your friends are when you have stomach problems.

April was kind of hard on me at first. I had to pay in nearly $680,000 in back taxes. Ten years ago that would have bought you a McMansion in (what is now) the Eastern United States Union, but today it's about three weeks pay at a fast food place. As luck would have it, I also won that Pulitzer Prize in April, so it all worked out.

June brought my 60th birthday and my seventh divorce. Since I met my third wife on MySpace back about ten years ago, you'd think that I wouldn't have tried that one again.

August was a proud moment for all of us as George W. Bush finally was recognized with twin national monuments as the political genius who saved this countr(ies) through his clever plan of deflation to the point that the economies of the rest of the world collapsed from loaning us so much money. I'm personally proud to have always been a backer of his sound policies and forward thinking. It's rather sad and pathetic to see all the "me too"-ers coming out of the woodwork and acting like they recognized his genius all along. Thankfully the Constitution was changed to allow him to serve again and clean up the mess after the 2008-2011 debacle that led to the Second Civil War and separation of the countries. Today we are the most prosperous people in the world and the most environmentally sound. Again, we have to credit the genius of Bush who saw that we had to destroy the planet in order to save it. Now new generations will have a chance to live in the most pristine atmosphere ever (which was also helped by the meteor neutralizing all of the excess CO2 we had previously made).

November saw the election of Jenna Bush in the Eastern Union and Barbara Bush in the Western Union. I think that's going to go a long way towards settling the differences between the two sides about ownership of the Mississippi waters. I was a little worried about tensions there. Ever since we lost California, Oregon and Washington in the Great Quake of '14 we've had troubles meeting our military recruitment goals here in the West. (I certainly hated losing friends when that happened, but the upside is the short drive to the beach.)

And now December is over. Surprisingly enough, I was able to set another bicycling record for myself--8,015 miles! Of course, I haven't worked a day since I won the Pulitzer, so that made it easier. Come to think of it, though, I hadn't actually worked a day since that last job I lost in 2008. Maybe I just got a little more motivated this year.
